Painting and textile art cross paths – four artists with a common past have reunited after forty years.
Four decades have passed since the artist group Kvartet exhibited together for the first time. The four members - Lene Frantzen, Lisbeth Tolstrup, Arthur Tudsborg and Lars Pryds - put their heads together for the first time on 26 October 1984. A few years later they had their first exhibition at the Museum at Koldinghus: "Kvartet-1" - and now the collaboration is being revived with an anniversary reunion under the heading "Quartet-40: Contrasts".
And the exhibition will be contrasting to that extent: Lene Frantzen has over the years developed and refined a very special way of producing felted images, objects and objects of use, while the group's other textile artist, Lisbeth Tolstrup , is preoccupied with tactile narratives in coarse materials. The expressions of the two painters range from Arthur Tudsborg's surreal depictions of an artist's practical everyday life and dream universe to Lars Pryds ' almost black-and-white graphic abstractions.
Varnishing will take place on Saturday 26 October at 11-14, and all artists will be present.
Galleri Valdal is an artist-run exhibition venue in Gl. Valby, which opened in the summer of 2023. Exhibitions based on artistic curiosity and great respect for different forms of expression are presented here. The place has a special history that goes back to the middle of the 19th century and to the artist colony Valdal. Behind Galleri Valdal are painter and graphic artist Lars Pryds and textile designer and art historian Lisbeth Tolstrup.
